Smoke from the fires in the Sierra Nevada mountains offered an ominous backdrop over the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River. We could hear thunder in these clouds. For a moment I thought we might get wet. Then when a few of our parties phones got service, we got alerts to evacuate. Since we didn’t really have good coverage we assumed we were still a bit away from danger. And there didn’t appear to be much danger in our direct location. When we got home i started looking in to thunder and fires. And discovered Pyrocumulonibus clouds. Yes a cloud of smoke hot that it can form a thunderstorm in its own. Apparently volcanoes cause them all the time. I hope to never have to experience thunder from a Wildfire ever again This is the beginning of the #creekfire
